(5/10) I was happy when I got the new album from Dan Reed, formerly Dan Reed Network. But I must say that the disillusionment followed quite quickly. But let's take one at a time.

The third solo album from Dan Reed contains thirteen songs that have been recorded in Prague. "Transmission", the name of the new album, can be really seen as a solo release since Dan Reed was, next to the vocals, also doing all the guitars and keyboards.

So far so good. Actually the album also starts quite OK with songs like "Broken soul" and "Roll the dice". But already with the third track things get less exciting. "Drive" is the name of the number and I have to say that the tune misses the 'drive'.

And it continues that way. The longplayer drifts towards the end without having a real highlight or a song that stand out. And longplayer really stand for 'long' in this context. The mood stays very much on a same level throughout the album and I had the feeling that "Transmission" never really gets started.

So, my happiness got confronted with reality and I must say that if I want to listen to this kind of music I will go back to the old Lighthouse Family records. Not my cup of tea.
